about

Another Reddit music writing contest I entered was 2 Hour Songs... maybe it was 1 hour... I don't remember. The idea was: you're given a theme and are challenged to write a song in either 1 or 2 hours. I believe the theme was a picture of a lighthouse from the movie Trainspotting. If I'm remembering correctly, I had seen the movie once before and I'm pretty sure that's the movie that has the scene of someone going through withdrawals and seeing a baby crawling on the ceiling. I wrote about that. I submitted the song and then learned that what most artists do is just make a beat that's inspired by the theme and I went out of my way and wrote lyrics and recorded all of this in either 1 or 2 hours because I'm a crazy person. This song was originally going to go onto my yet-to-be-released concept album Comedy as one of the songs about gluttony but I wrote a few, much better songs since then so it was sent to the Rotten folder!

lyrics

You're waiting for the toxins all to pass
There are never enough blankets despite the copious amounts we have
We're ready for the peak to finally hit
While you writhe around in agony, you realize that's barely the start of it

The radios left on
It plays the muffled song
As it reaches the crescendo, the gravity feels wrong

Somewhere, there's a lighthouse on the shore
The waves assault the stones while someone locks the door
This time it's worse than what you thought
As you're craving that release from the illness that you caught

You're clawing out your eyes
Your demons recognized
The thing clinging to your ceiling is the thing you need to exercise
The reason for this feeling is the help that you have ostracized

about

The Pineapple Army Michigan

I've always been terrible at writing biographies so why stop now. We're probably a band from Michigan. We don't adhere to a specific genre which causes mild schizophrenia in certain individuals. We will write commercial jingles for the right price and we do NOT play at weddings, only funerals. ... more
