about

I think I wrote this song loosely based on a story my uncle told me about an old woman who was hitchhiking and when someone stopped to help her, she robbed them at gunpoint.

I don't know how much of that I'm getting right. It was 15 years ago. Give me a break.

Also, I had no idea this was a Doors song until after I wrote it, showed it to my friend Nick and he asked if I knew it was a song already. I didn't. The end.

lyrics

I saw a man with a sign today
It asked if I was going his way
I stopped to help the man out
He pulled a gun, said not to shout

People are strange and smell like bark
They've been hiding in the dirt
The fire can't burn the watermark
The water can wash over hurt

I saw a girl with a bruise today
I didn't know if I should say
Her husband had his glasses on
Where did evolution go wrong?

I held a hand with a scar all night
He told me old tales of all his fights
He said how said he was nowadays
And this isn't what he wanted to raise

People are strange and smell like bark
They've been hiding in the dirt
The fire can't burn the watermark
The water can wash over hurt

I made my bed in vain last night
I could sleep without the light
I was homesick for my bed
And all the history books I read

This is positively odd
Who cares? Give your huzzah

People are strange and smell like bark
They've been hiding in the dirt
The fire can't burn the watermark
The water can wash over hurt

about

The Pineapple Army Michigan

I've always been terrible at writing biographies so why stop now. We're probably a band from Michigan. We don't adhere to a specific genre which causes mild schizophrenia in certain individuals. We will write commercial jingles for the right price and we do NOT play at weddings, only funerals. ... more
