about
This was the other song Alex and I recorded with the idea of finally making Shoulda Been an Album. It was written for Are You? but that album was never going to happen so then I decided to put it on Shoulda Been but then that album didn't happen so then I decided to put it on The Rind pt. 2: Rotten and that album actually came out and you're listening to it right now.. or just reading this without listening to the album for some reason.
The lyrics are kind of a nod to "I Am the Walrus" in that they're intentionally nonsensical. I think this song is pretty fun.
lyrics
There was a birthday cake, confetti in the sky
A bunch of Ice Capades not holstered to the side
A rhythmic paradise, arithmetic, a pair of dice
Decisions, incisions, decisions, dissections
Some used up coffee grounds, a shadow at the door
The vermin will return and it'll bring back more
A constant throwaway, a thorough castaway
Outbred, fed and dashed display
There was a Summer's night with a burst of cherry-lime
After tax, your total comes to being skinned alive
There's no more cash, you crash against the shores again
Decisions, decisions, decisions, decisions
A-merry middle aged and middle class
You keep the Mustang full of gas
Remember 1990? Nighty-nighty fun
No, that was so damn long ago
I'll never ever take that road again
Let's make a Will Ferrell movie
Starring everyone that you've ever known
And it's a total bomb and no one will show
To the world premier at the carnival
I've always been terrible at writing biographies so why stop now. We're probably a band from Michigan. We don't adhere to a
specific genre which causes mild schizophrenia in certain individuals. We will write commercial jingles for the right price and we do NOT play at weddings, only funerals....more
Melvins fans will flip for this lost ’90s indie classic, with its sludgy guitars, hypnotic rhythms and irresistible hooks. Essential. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 13, 2020
Pairing lo-fi indie rock with silvery folk instrumentation, the self-described "bedroom pop wizard" casts a cozy, poignant spell. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 11, 2024
