about

The last time that Shoulda Been an Album was attempted was in 2020. The Pineapple Army was in shambles at the time, having gone through a litany of lineups. I figured we could wrap everything up by finally recording an album that had evaded us for over half of a decade. Alex and I got together several times to practice and the songs were sounding great, the album was finally where it should be... but then I moved across the country and it never happened. We really picked a great album title, didn't we?

I'm pretty sure The Month Project version of this song is on the last Juiciest Slices compilation and I wrote about what the songs about there so go listen to that 81-track beast.

lyrics

Safe place
You'll never escape

I just want to see the sky again
I just want this captivity to end
I don't want to be in this box
Under the ground
I know where you are
But I can't get to you

Closed in
You'll never know the difference

I just want to touch the earth again
I don't know why these things are happening
But they're happening
I just want to know the meaning of
I don't need these synthetic drugs

We will write commercial jingles for the right price and we do NOT play at weddings, only funerals. ... more
