about

This song is the follow up to Four Hundred and Twenty. While Four Hundred and Twenty is a upbeat rap about smoking weed, this was the foil. A look back on a long life wondering what was worth it and what wasn't, what choices would be made differently, was writing that rap about smoking weed a good use of time and creative energy?

yeah.

This was the last song on May: A Cabin in the Woods which was a sprawling 31 tracks. This was the only song recorded by myself in the basement.

The "hidden track" is a hot mic while Alex is recording synth line-in the last day of the Cabin in the Woods trip. We had scraped together a bit of kief and resin to smoke at 4:20 before we left. I was outside recording nature sounds when I realized it was time to smoke. This is what was captured.

lyrics

A painted smile on a haunted face
With eyes so wide they stretch to space
It's a sad, sad tale with no more sail
It sunk
And you watched it sink

A haunted face on a growing boy
Caught in the thought of going to war
So he shaves his head
And eats his lead
He's dead
And you watched him die

With so much time you'd think I'd age
Convinced I'm with the world so with it I shall change
Well, I am
It's just you're all changing faster

A rusty ring on a wrinkled hand
Gives product a new demand
It's a gateway drug
To coax the young
They went
And you watched them go
You just watched them go

A wrinkled hand on a growing boy
Caught in the thought of going to war
So he learns to sing
And keeps the ring
Singing
"Oh, what a wonderful day
I'm glad I'm alive
Oh, what a beautiful day
I hope that I don't die"
Singing
"Oh, what a wonderful day
I'm glad I'm alive
Oh, what a beautiful day
I hope that I don't die"

about

The Pineapple Army Michigan

I've always been terrible at writing biographies so why stop now. We're probably a band from Michigan. We don't adhere to a specific genre which causes mild schizophrenia in certain individuals. We will write commercial jingles for the right price and we do NOT play at weddings, only funerals. ... more
