I could write a short story about the May: A Cabin in the Woods recording sessions but I'm bad at stories. Brigid, Alex and I all traveled to, I believe, Brigid's uncle's cabin. We brought food, recoding equipment and the tiniest amount of weed. We survived on salty snacks, resin and VHS tapes of reruns and Mean Girls. A lot came out of that whole experience. The majority of the songs that made it onto the album were composed or at least conceptualized at the cabin. This one is from the latter category. Alex wrote these lyrics while we were at the cabin and I later put them to music and recorded the song at his mother's house while he made food.
